Sylvain Cremers is one of the most active and renowned oboists in the Belgian music scene. He has an extensive and intense musical
record as Principal Oboe soloist for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège (Belgium).
He began his advanced musical studies at the Royal Music Conservatory of Liège where he was awarded the First prize of oboe (class of
Mr. Yves Leroy) as well as the First prize for chamber music, both with greatest distinction. He graduated as earned the “Diplome
Supérieur” of oboe with the greatest distinction.
He continued with postgraduated studies at the “Musikhochschule” of Cologne as well as with Mr. Jean- Louis Capezzali in Paris.
Winner of the National Competition Axion Classics (“Pro ci Vitate”) of Belgium, he also excelled at the International Competition of Munich
(ARD) and Bayreuth (Pacem in Terris).
Since 1994 and without interruption, he has held the position of first principal oboe of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège. He has
performed all over Europe, Asia and Latin America and playing with world-class conductors and top-level soloists.
He has made numerous recordings for CD as well as broadcast for TV Mezzo Live and Medici tv.
Sylvain Cremers collaborates with other orchestras and ensembles such as the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Wallonia Chamber
Orchestra, the Sinfonietta Köln, the Charlemagne Orchestra. He is also regularly invited to play at the prestigious “Queen Elisabeth
International Competition of Belgium”, “Mozart Festival” etc.
As a soloist he has performed concertos by J.S. Bach, A. Vivaldi, A. Marcello, G.F. Haendel, J.Haydn, D.Cimarosa, W.A.Mozart, J.N Hummel,
Y.Bourrel, W.B.Molique, F.Martin, V.Williams, S.Barber, M. Arnold... Also noteworthy are the recitals with the French pianist Eric Le Sage.
Sylvain Cremers is regularly invited to give oboe master classes in Libramont, Malonne, Dinant, Antwerp (Belgium), St Cast-le-Guildo
(France), Spain, Japan and China.
Professor of oboe at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels between 1997 and 2000, Sylvain Cremers currently develops his pedagogical
activity at the Royal Higher Institute of Music and Pedagogy of Namur (IMEP) and at the Royal Conservatory of Mons, an activity that he
combines with his musical performances.
